There is SO much great movie stuff going on in the area. Here are some things you should check out! Many of these organizations are independent and/or non-profit so be sure to check out their membership and volunteer pages!

 

REDFORD THEATRE

The Motor City Theatre Organ Society is dedicated to the preservation, use, understanding, and enjoyment of the theatre pipe organ, and the promotion and presentation of classic films and arts.

 

DETROIT FILM THEATER

The motion picture medium has played an important and continuing role at the Detroit Institute of Arts since 1928. Now in its 30th year, the DIA’s ongoing program, Detroit Film Theatre, is among the most comprehensive and acclaimed showcases of contemporary and classic world cinema in the United States.

 

CINEMA DETROIT

CINEMA DETROIT is metro Detroit’s only truly independent cinema, delivering an eclectic, quirky and quality mix of contemporary, indie, cult, genre, and classic movies in the heart of the city. It is also the only first-run 7-day-a-week movie theater in Greater Downtown. Located at 4126 Third Street, 48201, we feature movies in a unique setting – the former Weber Furniture Store  – and freshly made popcorn, Faygo soda, and occasionally other locally-made treats.

 

SENATE THEATER

6424 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48210

Another fabulous old-school movie theater with 800-seats, featuring movies and live shows with regular concerts on a Wurlitzer pipe organ.
